There you will also have the opportunity to talk to specialists in various fields of atmospheric measurements and science. You are also very welcome to bring some of your own data and discuss them with the respective specialists. In case you already know in advance to which people you would like to talk to in more detail or in which working groups of the above mentioned institutes you are interested, please let us know so that we can arrange a meeting. Don't hesitate to contact us if you have questions. Each participant will be asked to give a short presentation (10 min.) about the station or facility he/she is working with (measurement site, measurement program, etc.). This is to get to know each other, to find out about everybody’s interests and to make the exchange of information and experience among the participants easier. Please be prepared for this and bring your presentation with tables/graphics/pictures preferably on CD-ROM or PC memory stick (or transparencies/discette). Since participants come from all over the world, it is also nice to bring a map to show us where your station is located. Lessons will take place at the UFS Schneefernerhaus. Accommodation will be in double rooms with shower/washroom. We will have breakfast and dinner at the UFS and lunch in a nearby restaurant. During the weekend you will have the opportunity to visit Munich and some other places in Southern Bavaria. Expenses for food and drinks are completely covered by GAWTEC. The meals will consist of German food (meat, vegetables, potatoes, noodles, rice...). If you have problems with this because of e.g. religious, ethical, health reasons please let us know in advance by email. We will provide an alternative for you. During your stay in Germany you will have full health insurance covered by GAWTEC. The UFS is situated close to a glacier so please remember to bring sun glasses, sun protection and warm clothes including boots for outside stays. Inside the UFS is comfortably heated. No formal dress is required. Monthly mean air temperature in June / July is around +5°C at the UFS and +17°C in the valley. But much colder and windy conditions are not uncommon at the station. Take a look at the average temperatures here: UFS weather provided by the DWD. We are looking forward to an interesting and fruitful GAWTEC course.
